Troubleshooting

Should you run into problems using WuliWeb, we have provided some tips on how you might troubleshoot. If the tips below do not solve your problem, please contact support@wuliweb.com

Why aren't the tabs in my Inbox, My Files and Recycle Bin working?

If you are using Netscape and have resized your browser window, you may need to refresh the screen in order for the tabs to work.

Why aren't the documents I've saved to my account appearing in my Inbox?

Files that you save yourself through the ADD button do not appear in your Inbox. They are automatically uploaded into the My Files receptacle of your WuliWeb Personal Hub.

Why did I get a Name Conflict Screen?

If you try to add a document to your library with the same name as a document that already exists, the Name Conflict dialog box appears, giving you the opportunity to replace the existing file. If the document you are adding is an update of an existing file, select that file by checking the box next to the appropriate name and then clicking on REPLACE SELECTED FILE. The keywords and modified date are shown to give you a better source for comparison. If the document you are trying to add is a different one, select CREATE NEW FILE.

What does the 'Exceeding Your Storage Space' message mean?

This message indicates that you are over your disk space limit. In order to retain full functionality of your WuliWeb Personal Hub, you must clean out some of your files. This can be done by transferring old files to the Recycle Bin and deleting them. NOTE: Remember that scanned articles and ads do not count against your disk space limit.

Why isn't my search working?

The Search function will not work between screens. For instance, you can not be in your Inbox and search for a file in your Recycle Bin.

What is the difference between All Files and My Files?

My Files is the name of the screen that lists all your documents and folders. All Files is the icon in the left navigation frame that, when clicked, brings up a list of all the documents in your personal hub, regardless of the folder in which it is filed.

How do I upload or clear barcodes from my Symbol/Cross Pen?

If you installed WuliWare with the Symbol/Cross Pen support option, you will find a shortcut to WuliPen on your desktop or in your start menu under Programs->WuliWeb. Once you have started the application, you will need to configure your COM port settings. Make sure your Symbol/Cross Pen cradle is attached to a serial port on your computer and, if you have a Palm-style PDA device, that your PDA's synchronization program is not running. (Most PDA synchronization programs will control all the available COM ports, and prevent your Pen form operating correctly. You can restart your PDA synchronization program after you're done uploading from your Pen.) Click the "Port Setup" button on the application.

Pick the COM port corresponding to the serial port on your computer to which you attached the Symbol/Cross Pen cradle. In most cases, this will be COM1. (You will only be able to pick COM ports not in use by other applications -- COM ports that are being used will appear as pressed and grayed out buttons.) To upload or clear your Symbol/Cross Pen device, first press the button on your Pen once, then place it securely in the cradle. Quickly press the Upload or Clear button on the application. The Pen should receive a command from the application within a few seconds of pressing the button. (If you wait too long you may receive an error message. If this happens, remove the Pen from the cradle, press the button on the Pen again, replace the Pen in the cradle, and click the Upload or Clear button on the application.)

I'm trying to set up my Palm scanner and I can't find the WWBCENTRY application. Where is it?

When you install WuliWare with the Palm Support option selected, the WWBCEntry Palm application is copied to the folder you select for WuliWare (usually C:\Program Files\WuliWeb\WuliWare). However, in order for WuliWare to work with Palm devices, you must have the Palm HotSync application installed on your desktop computer. If you did not have HotSync on your PC when you installed WuliWare then the WWBCEntry application and WuliWeb Palm Conduit were not installed.  Re-run the installation (it is available for free download from www.wuliweb.com).

I installed the WuliWeb application on my Palm, but I can't synchronize the values I entered with my desktop. What's wrong?

When you install WuliWare with the Palm Support option selected, a Palm conduit is automatically installed for synchronizing data between your Palm device and the WuliWare software on your desktop, and from there to the WuliWeb server. If articles you entered in your WuliWeb application on your Palm device do not show up in your WuliWeb account after you synchronize, there are several things you should check.

1. Check your HotSync log. With your Palm HotSync application running, left click on the HotSync icon in your system tray. A menu will appear. Choose VIEW LOG... from the menu.  Review the log for error message from the WuliWeb conduit.

2. Make sure the WuliWeb Palm Conduit is installed correctly. With your Palm HotSync application running, left click on the HotSync icon in your system tray. A menu will appear.  Choose CUSTOM. A dialog will appear with the list of installed conduits. If the WuliWeb conduit does not appear in this list, you will need to re-install WuliWare.

3. Check your Offline box. If there was a problem verifying your user name and password or WuliWare was unable to reach the WuliWeb server when you synchronized your Palm, the articles you saved may have been placed in your Offline box for later upload. To check for this, double click on the WuliAgent icon in your system tray. The WuliAgent dialog will appear, including a list of items waiting in your Offline box. Click UPLOAD WAITING ITEMS NOW to add these to your WuliWeb account.

WuliWare has been designed to high standards and tested thoroughly. If you think your software is working improperly, check "Download" on WuliWeb to ensure you are running the most recent version of WuliWare.

Many problems can be attributed to errors during the download process. Resolve these errors by un-installing WuliWare, then downloading and installing a new copy of WuliWare from WuliWeb. If the problem persists, contact customer support.
